Ster-Kinekor
The Ster-Kinekor mobi site is unique in South Africa (and the world) as it gives the user convenient 'any time, any place' mobile access to most of the features available on the brand's award-winning website.
Unlimited downloading of video trailers (encoded and optimised by the Prezence content team), movie schedules, competitions, movie highlights, movie genre searching as well as the ability to book tickets directly from the handset through the Prezence-developed mobile e-commerce system ensured that the Ster-Kinekor WAP site achieved a 'Silver' in the 2008 Construction New Media Awards for technical innovation and is rapidly becoming the deployment of choice for interacting with the brand.
The mobi site functionality is continually being enhanced as it moves into further phases of its development and as new technologies and further handset improvements take place.
The Ster-Kinekor mobi site uses Handset Recognition Software along with a Mobile Content Adaptation Layer to render the site for all popular models of cellphones in Southern Africa.
Users' cellphone information and session visits are also logged providing the client with accurate statistical data.
The user profiling part of the site uses MSISDN sniffing to automatically log the user in if their cellphone number is recognised. Using this profile data, the WAP site is automatically configured showing content directly targeted and relevant to the user's profile.
For the lower quality handsets, a WML version of the site was built which enables much of the main WAP site's functionality on older phones.
