Seventeen.mobi launches!

Prezence, leaders in mobile deployments, launch a mobi site for iconic teenage magazine and online property, Seventeen.

With the rapid uptake of consumers accessing the internet via their mobile phones, not least in the youth segment, it was essential for Seventeen.co.za to expand their reach and accessibility with the launch of the first phase of their mobi site seventeen.mobi.

Prezence have created a cutting edge mobi version of Seventeen.co.za which offers fans unique content which is both engaging and interactive.  The mobi site encourages the user to contribute their own content, such as the 'Oh Boy!' section where girls can pose questions to a boy panel and vice versa. Users can also upload images to the mobi site via their phones and MMS; rate and comment on content; vote on topical polls and read the latest celebrity gossip.

The mobi site was built with Prezence's trademark mobile wizardry, and includes a customized content management system which seamlessly allows Seventeen to manage the addition of new articles and images; edit articles and user submitted content; update daily horoscopes; add competitions and new quizzes.

Prezence engineered the mobi site using their pioneering technology, handset content adaptation. This future-proof technology automatically detects which cellphone is being used to access a mobi site, and then immediately adapts the site to suit the exact specifications, features and screen size of the user's phone. So, no matter what cellphone you use, your seventeen mobi site will always provide you with the ultimate user experience.

According to Prezence CEO, Tim Bishop, 'It is absolutely essential for leading publishers and brands to 'mobilise' and leverage off the prolific numbers of users accessing the internet through their cell phones. Not only do Prezence-built mobi sites provide brands such as Seventeen with a wider and more accesible audience, but also creates another engaging platform from which to further monetize their content'.

Seventeen, SA's leading teen girl magazine, extended its digital portfolio to include an exciting new mobile site, seventeen.mobi, which launched on Monday, 15 February 2010.
"With massive increases in mobile internet usage throughout Africa and the commercial opportunities that come with that makes the launch of the seventeen mobile site inevitable," says digital publisher Natalie Dixon.|

This cutting-edge mobi site, developed by Prezence, complements the existing 8 Ink Media digital portfolio which includes www.seventeen.co.za, with over 21,453 unique browsers* and 226,056 page impressions and seventeen's MXit contact with 160,000 subscribers.

seventeen.mobi, which targets girls between the ages of 13 to 19 years, doesn't simply mirror the content on the website but also inspires unique interaction through sections like Oh Boy! where girls can pose questions to a boy panel and vice versa.
